FRIDAY, MARCH 11 After a continental breakfast at the hotel, cross the Brooklyn Bridge for a closer look at Brooklyn, listed as one of the must-see places in the world, according to Lonely Planet, the largest independent travel guide. In its 2007 Blue List, the Best in Travel edition, Brooklyn is on the “Go List” as a top destination, chosen by a global team of about 50 editors. Enjoy a guided tour of the beautiful Brooklyn museum, which opened in 1897. One of the oldest and largest art museums in the U.S., it includes in its permanent collection more than 1.5 million objects, from ancient Egyptian masterpieces to contemporary art. The mission of the Brooklyn Museum is to act as a bridge between the rich artistic heritage of world cultures, as embodied in its collections, and the unique experience of each visitor. Lunch on your own before continuing our Brooklyn bus tour with our step-on guide to see the changes the years have brought to this now-fashionable, historical area. Remainder of the day at leisure.
