With four fabulous Stratford performances; a private lecture by set and costume designer Susan Benson and her husband, lighting designer Michael J. Whitfield; an architectural tour of the lovely Victorian buildings of Stratford plus a special tasting organized by the Savour Stratford Perth County Culinary Festival, this tour promises to be interesting as well as very entertaining.

Farewell Dinner at the highly-regarded Rundels Restaurant.

  WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 – Early morning departure for Stratford from the National Gallery of Canada on Sussex Drive. Enroute, a delicious box lunch. Afternoon arrival at the lovely Arden Park Hotel, located on the main street, a short walk from the Festival Theatre. The Arden Park is the newest hotel in Stratford and boasts many excellent facilities including an indoor swimming pool.

Welcome buffet dinner before the evening performance of Camelot.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 22

Breakfast at the hotel, followed by “From Page to Stage: Designing for Opera, Ballet and Theatre,” a talk by Susan Benson, set and costume designer and her husband, lighting designer Michael J. Whitfield.

After lunch on your own, transfer to Festival Theatre for the matinee performance of Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor.

“A would-be seducer, a jealous husband and two resourceful housewives in a hilarious battle of wits and wiles.”

"Sir John Falstaff gets more than he bargained for when he simultaneously pursues two wealthy married women. Upon receiving identical copies of Falstaff’s love letter, the spirited Mistresses Ford and Page cook up a scheme of their own to teach the fat knight a lesson, with uproariously funny results."

Transfer back to the hotel after the performance.

Transfer from the hotel to Festival Theatre for the evening performance of Molière’s masterpiece The Misanthrope.

“Social critic meets social butterfly in a sparkling comedy of manners widely hailed as Molière’s masterpiece.”

   FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 23
After breakfast, a guided Architectural Tour of the lovingly-preserved 19th-century homes, churches, commercial and civic buildings in the heritage district of Stratford.

Lunch on your own.

Transfer to Festival Theatre for the matinee performance of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night with Brian Dennehy returning to the Festival stage to play Sir Toby Belch.

“A festive riot of mischief-making and misplaced desire – perhaps the greatest romantic comedy of all time.”

"Shipwrecked on the coast of Illyria, Viola adopts male disguise and enters the service of Duke Orsino, only to find herself part of a triangle of unrequited love. Meanwhile, in the household of the Countess Olivia, Sir Toby Belch and his unruly companions trick Olivia’s strict and disapproving steward, Malvolio, into believing that she loves him."

Transfer back to the hotel with free time before our Farewell Dinner at Rundels. BD




  


   SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24
Breakfast at the hotel and check out.

Transfer to the Stratford Country Club for a "Comfort Foods Tasting" paired with VQA wine and Rheo Thompson chocolates, organized by the Stratford Perth County Culinary Festival before our return to Ottawa. B and Tasting
