Friday, February 20 - Early morning departure for Toronto from the National Gallery of Canada. Enroute, a box lunch prepared by the NAC’s Le Café.

The $254 million redevelopment plan by celebrated Toronto-born architect Frank Gehry will increase the art viewing space by 47%. Saturday, February 21 - After breakfast at the hotel, depart for a guided tour of the Royal Ontario Museum. With the $250 million Michael Lee-Chin Chrystal renovation project by renowned architect Daniel Libeskind now complete, the museum’s galleries and collections of world culture and natural history have become one of the country’s premier cultural destinations. A stunning structure of interlocking prismatic forms, the Lee-Chin Crystal creates modern, luminous and accessible interior spaces that house eight new galleries including Canada’s largest hall for international exhibitions, retail shops, restaurants, special event spaces and a graceful new entrance and lobby.

Lunch at c5, located atop the world-renowned Michael Lee-Chin Crystal. In its May 2008 issue, Food & Wine Magazine listed c5 as one of their worldwide “10 Best Restaurants with a View.”

After lunch, a guided tour at the Gardiner Museum, which offers an intimate look at one of the world’s oldest and most universal forms of art and material culture – ceramics. The collection exceeds 3,000 historical and contemporary pieces, giving an extraordinary glimpse into the development of the ceramic process, decoration and shape. The Gardiner has undergone a major expansion of its gallery and studio spaces. It remains one of the city’s finest examples of modernist architecture.

Dinner on your own. Optional tickets to “Fidelio,” Beethoven’s only opera, performed by the Canadian Opera Company at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, a theatre built specifically for opera and ballet performances.
