Tuesday, October 9
Early morning departure for Burlington, Vermont from the National Gallery of Canada.
Private catered luncheon on the top floor of The Firehouse Gallery, located in a building originally
built as the Ethan Allen Firehouse on Church Street, in 1889.
After lunch and a talk by the curator of the museum, free time to view the gallery.
During our visit, the works of Conrad Bakker and Jason Hanasik (color photography) will be displayed.
Continue on to the Ethan Allen Homestead Museum for a guided tour of the historic home of Vermont's
founder Ethan Allen and his wife, Fanny, built in 1787.
Transfer to the Essex Culinary Resort and Spa, nestled on 18 acres between the vistas of the Green Mountains and the splendour of Lake Champlain,
our home for two nights.

Wednesday, October 10
After a full breakfast, depart for the Shelburne Museum, New England’s Smithsonian.
Following a guided tour, spend the rest of the day exploring the museum and enjoying lunch on your own.
Located in the scenic Lake Champlain Valley, Shelburne Museum is one of the finest,
most diverse, and unconventional museums of art and Americana.
Over 150,000 works are exhibited
in a remarkable setting of 39 exhibition buildings, 25 of which are historic and were relocated
to the Museum grounds.
Impressionist paintings, folk art, quilts and textiles, decorative arts, furniture, American paintings,
and a dazzling array of 17th-to 20th-century artifacts are on view.
Shelburne is home to the
finest museum collections of 19th-century American folk art, quilts, 19th- and 20th-century decoys,
and carriages.
Return to the hotel in the afternoon.
This evening, enjoy a deluxe dinner with a cooking demonstration from a culinary chef
at The Essex, Vermont’s Four Diamond Culinary Resort. BD

Thursday, October 11
After breakfast, check out and depart for Hildene, the home of Robert Todd Lincoln where
Lincoln’s descendants lived until 1975.
Guided tour of this 24-room, Georgian Revival mansion, including a demonstration of the vibrant
sounds of the 1,000- pipe Aeolian organ, the Rowlands “Green” Agricultural Center where Hildene’s
Goat cheese is produced, the formal gardens established in 1907, and the Pullman Car now on display.
A deluxe boxed luncheon will be delivered to Hildene for us.
Continue on to the Southern Vermont Arts Center to enjoy viewing classic and
contemporary art in a National Historic Trust Mansion in the company of its Curator.
Check in at Mountaintop Inn, set on 350 magnificent acres with views of Chittenden Reservoir
and the Green Mountain National Forest.
Dinner in the Highlands dining room.

Friday, October 12:
Following breakfast, depart for Montpelier for a guided tour at the Vermont State House,
including the amazing artwork located in the building.
Next visit Ben and Jerry’s for a guided tour of the factory. Learn how two high school friends
became entrepreneurs in the ice cream industry.
Lunch at Michael’s On The Hill.
Housed in an 1820 farmhouse, this “farm-to-table” restaurant has won numerous awards and owner
chefs were among the first to champion local ingredients.
After lunch, depart for home. BL
