Saturday, June 29 | B/L

After breakfast at the hotel, depart for a guided tour of Arezzo in Tuscany.

Sitting on the top of the hill at the junction of the 4 valleys, Arezzo was a great Etruscan and Roman city. It is a bustling town that seamlessly blends its medieval heritage with modernity. High culture, architecture, and history all set amid a cobbled old town.

At the end of the XIV century Arezzo went under the domination of Florence and the Medici family, thus changing its direction in history. Arezzo’s historic center still shows several beautiful masterpieces of Italian art which are featured during the walking tour: its 1000-year-old.

Parish Church dedicated to the Virgin Mary, its gothic Cathedral with acomplex marble altar (Arca of Saint Donato, Arezzo’s protector), itsmedievel Dominican and Franciscan churches (the former houses a crucifixpainted by a young Cimabue, the latter world famous frescoes by Piero dellaFrancesca), numerous medieval palaces, Piazza Grande (the main square)with its tower houses that form the perfect scenery for the Antique Market(the oldest and the most known in Italy) and for the Joust of the Saracen – allthis reminds us of Arezzo’s glorious history and culture.Top of your visit with a typical Tuscan lunch in a local restaurant.

This evening depart for another amazing performance Chamber Music in Magione at the Castle of the Knights of Malta. Following the performance, transfer back to the hotel for your overnight.

Arezzo in Tuscany

Sunday, June 30

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel this morning and then depart for a guided tour of NARNI.

Founded by the ancient Umbrians, Narni eventually became a Roman colony. This walking tour will enable you to go back in time, in this beautiful but not widely known Umbrian town, feeling in the city’s very stones its long and many-layered history.

Narni is more… it hides another valuable treasure under its architectural and artistic heritage: Narni Sotterranea, a path through corridors and underground passages. Discover the small church carved into the rock, a precious ”piece of art” with frescoed walls with paintings, now restored, from the 13th-15th centuries including the one with ”The Archangel Michael Piercing the Dragon”. In addition, the glass floor of this room allows the eye to get to the ancient foundations resurfaced with the excavations. An opening in the masonry leads to a room where in Roman times a cistern was made from the rock for the collection of rainwater. Further wonder is the graffiti made by those condemned by the inquisition tribunal imprisoned here, not yet fully deciphered.
Time to enjoy a genuine food experience, perfect for the body and mind. A perfect blend of history, tradition, art and gastronomy!

Dinner will be on your own this evening before transferring to The Castle of the Knights of Malta for the evening concert of String Quartet and Guitar.
